Just to give you guys a heads up... Western is fucking CROWDED this year. I don't know if maybe they lowered their entry requirements or their recruitment team is going all out but JESUS it has never been so fucking hard to get on a bus or in a computer lab. Now it's just routine to do a computer lab tour, checking every single one, before having to use one of the retarded random computers in the library to do my fucking homework. There is NEVER a free computer lab. Also, and this might have to do with the "free bus passes" and the total shit weather, but we are packed into those buses like fucking sardines every single time. Yesterday, I was sitting on the bus outside Haggard Hall during those couple minutes where it just chills before heading downtown and it just kept getting fuller and fuller and fuller. I even had a weird visualization of the jam-packed bus being flooded with slipperly olive oil, as if we actually were sardines. It was weird and mildly entertaining. Anyway, just so you know, school is crowded.
Next week is the last real week of school before finals. Holy shit, that goddamn time of the quarter again. Yikes yikes yikes. As you know, it's really stressful and scary. Although being twenty-one is the shit during times like these. During any times, really. But I've been meeting up with a coworker every now and then for a pseudo night-cap. You know those days when you have homework to do, but nothing pressing enough where you need to stay up all night studying? Those are the days where I close the books at nineish and meet up with Sophie or Nina for a drink, maybe two. Such a nice stress reliever. We get to bitch about work, talk about the cute customers, talk trash about our individual friends (because we don't have the same friends which is kinda nice) and roommates etc, and just fucking forget about school for about an hour or so before hitting the hay. It's really nice. Sophie and I are going to do that Wednesday night and hit up 80's night on Thursday after I stop by the Western Art Gallery (the commissioned piece Walker did for Nick is hanging there temporarily, on loan from the Nicholas Glomb Art Foundation of course) and chill with that crowd for a bit. A couple weekends ago I went over to Walker/Andrews and chilled there with them, Jen, Mary, and Jake. We were playing super nintendo and drinking/smoking. I got pretty high which made 80's-era Jeopardy on the Super Nintento pretty fucking hilarious.
Other than that, pretty much just working an ass load every weekend, occasionally going to class, stressing about school, slacking off, and watching tv on dvd is what I have been up to lately. I've been getting really into eating some of the crazy shit we have at work. Basically, I've just expanded my horizons from spaghetti, annies mac, and trader joes curry sauce, to things like fish cooked in home-made curry sauce with cilantro and basil, and big bowls of rice noodles with sauteed shiitakes, portabellos, baby bok choy, and tofu fried in coconut oil. I've convinced myself to drink a cup of coffee every morning (which I still have qualms with because of the caffeine), but I make it with a shot of espresso from my coffee machine and about a cup of heated whole milk - that's what has convinced me. I never drink milk or really consume dairy (except for cheese of course) and I feel like I'm missing it from my diet. Plus the milk is from a local dairy farm so it's good to support that. Two birds with one stone yo. I've also been craving oatmeal lately because of the gray wet weather and I even found a way to make that extremely beneficial health wise. I add goji berries, which are usually sold dried like raisins, and flax seed oil. The goji berries are chock full of antioxidants and other wonderful things for you and the flax seed oil is just like magic tonic, contains all of the 3 major omegas. Plus it gives the oatmeal some extra flavor to boot. I also drink Kombucha every now and then. I love the stuff and wish I could drink it every day but sometimes it gives me stomach pains if I drink too much of it. It also makes me WAY more gassy than any other carbonated beverage... I burp like CRAZY when I drink that stuff.
So that was a bit of a food rant. I should probably split, I have to e-mail Midori and do some other really exciting things for school. Awesome.
